Primary Points Update

5th June 2013

The improving weather brought a good turnout for the 5th race of the Primary Points Series with 7 yachts taking to the start line on Monday evening. In a very light variable wind, race officer George Brown sent the fleet on the shortest available course to Rosneath Patch S, Gourock and back to the finish. The breeze built for a short time only to disappear as the leaders rounded the pier head back into the bay. This led to the fleet finishing close together with about 30 min to spare before the time limit. First place went to the crew of ‘Eich Mara’ while Ian Rice’s ‘Joe 90’ leads the series into next week’s final race.

Next outing is the Irene Lawrie Memorial Race / Cruise to Rothesay on Saturday (8th June). Again this looks set to be a day of light winds and sunshine...

Racing Mark ‘Y’ - Temporary Change to Sailing Instructions

28th May 2013

CBSC Racing Mark ‘Y’ (Royal West - Ironotter Point) is currently missing. Until further notice, all courses which include this mark will use Racing mark ‘V’ (Rosneath Patch S) in its place. This mark to be rounded to the same side as indicated by the original lettering for Mark ‘Y’ (or ‘y’) on the CBSC Course Table.

Cardwell Bay to Kip Race / Cruise and Muster - Saturday 25th May 2013

It has been a slow start to the sailing season with fitting out taking longer than hoped in the cold and wet spring. For the first time we can remember, there were no starters for the entire Opening Points Series or the Opening Muster. Salamander was first to venture out being a lone starter for the Port Bannatyne Race and we then had 4 starters in Race 3 of the Primary Points Series.

This Saturday we have the Cardwell Bay to Kip Race with a 14:00 start. We hope to have a few boats turn out, so do come along and race or cruise down to Kip in company.

After the race there is a muster at The Chartroom. This is scheduled for a 16:30 start with food available at 17:00. Members are encouraged to come along even if they are not sailing.

We’ll not say too much about the weather, but at the moment it doesn’t look too bad! Either way, come along and celebrate a belated start to the 2013 season!
